CONSUMER PRICES
DESCRIPTION: The Labor Department issues its May report on consumer prices. In April, inflation cooled year-over-year for the third straight month even after some of President Donald Trump's tariffs took effect, though economists and many business owners expect inflation will climb by this summer. Analysts forecast that prices ticked up last month, rising 2.4% compared with April's 2.3%.

SPAIN-RESTAURANT-OLDEST
DESCRIPTION: In the heart of Spain's capital, the famous Sobrino de Botín restaurant proudly holds the title of being the world's oldest restaurant. It opened its doors in 1725, having survived Napoleonic invasions, civil war and the Covid-19 pandemic, and today welcomes droves of eager tourists in Madrid every day. But a half-hour away, a small family-run restaurant says that it was founded 23 years before Botín, in 1702. Casa Pedro's owners are combing through local archives to prove what's asserted on their sugar packets and in their logo, and say they're getting close.

US-PHILANTHROPY-FEMA-NONPROFITS
DESCRIPTION: With concern and confusion over how the federal government will respond to disasters this summer, aid groups are readying to expand the ways they help communities after hurricanes, fires and other storms. President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his intent to overhaul FEMA, if not totally dismantle it. Nonprofits are preparing to take on more tasks and respond in new regions if FEMA is absent or weakened by staff cuts. But they also say their own capacities are diminished, due to the frequency of disasters and the loss of other federal grants, and donors warn they can't fill all gaps.
