JULY FOURTH-POOL PARTY PRICES

DESCRIPTION: U.S. residents preparing to host a July Fourth pool party saw lower average prices last month compared to a year earlier. The average cost for 16 kinds of products typically found at poolside gatherings or group beach outings totaled $858 in June, compared with $937 in June 2024, according to an exclusive analysis consumer research firm Numerator prepared for The Associated Press. In June 2019, the overall price for four beach towels, a grill, a Bluetooth speaker, a woman's bathing suit, a cooler, two pairs of swim goggles, a cornhole set and the rest of the items was $662.

ECONOMY-JOBS REPORT

DESCRIPTION: The U.S. government reports on the number of jobs created in June. Analysts are forecasting the U.S. economy added 115,000 non-farm jobs in June, down from 139,000 in May. The unemployment rate is expected to tick up to 4.3% from 4.2%. The U.S. labor market has proven remarkably resilient in recent years, but some weakness has begun to surface.
